＊＊＊　第９日目：　動詞 ７　＊＊＊

ポイント１: 

「私は人に言われます」の場合は [ I am told ] の形を使う。
「彼女は人に言われます」の場合は [ She is told ] を使います。　

I am often told that I look like my mother. 
My sister is often told she is beautiful. 

It is said that ... は「・・・と言われています」ですが、やや硬い形で主に
書き言葉として使われます。
It is said that he is living in South America. 

[ He is said to 不定詞 ] の形で言う事も可能で、主に書き言葉で使われる。
He is said to be living in South America. 



ポイント２: 

「帰る」を英語で言う時、常に [ come home ], [ come back ] になるとは限りません。
話し手（ or 聞き手）のいる場所への動きに対しては [ come ] が使われ、
いない場所への動きには [ go ] が使われます。
即ち、「話し手（ or 聞き手）」が自分の家にいる時は [ come home ] ,
家にいない時は [ go home ] 。　

What are you going to do after this lesson ? 
I'm going to go home.  or,  I'm going home.  

I live in Tokyo now, but I often go back to my hometown in Shizuoka prefecture. 
 


ポイント３: 

[ escape ] には主に３つの意味があります。

１．閉じ込められた場所から逃げる。
　Three prisoners have escaped. 
  A tiger has escaped from the zoo. 

２．危険なもの、不愉快なもの、からのがれる。
  She narrowly escaped being drowned. 
  The police searched for him, but he managed to escape from them. 

３．ガス、液体などが漏れる。
　Some gas escaped from the pipe. 

閉じ込められていない所から逃げる時は [ run away ] 等、[ 動詞＋ away ] 。　
When he saw the policeman, he ran away very fast. 
A big car hit my car and then drove away very fast.  　

 

ポイント４: 

車やオートバイなどの乗り物がスリップした時、 [ skid ] を使う。
My car skidded on some ice. 
His motorbike skidded on a patch of oil. 

[ slip ] は、人間など車の付いていない物が滑った時に使う。
I slipped on some ice and fell over. 
The rope slipped out of my hand. 


ポイント５: 

男女間の「交際しています」という表現をする場合、[ go out together ] [ go out with ] 
などを使います。
I started going out with my boyfriend last year. 
My boy friend and I started going out together last year. 

[ associate ] はロマンチックでない関係に使われます。
He associates with criminals. 

[ associate ] には「〜と・・を結び付けて考える」意味もあります。
I associate France with good food.
