ポイント１:
[ admit ] には許可を与えるという意味はありません。
許可を与えるのは、[ let ] [ allow ] 。
My parents didn't let me go to America.
My parents didn't allow me to go to America.
[ admit ] には主に２つの意味があります。
１．何かが真実であることを認める。（普通は何か良くない事）
I admit I was wrong.
He admitted stealing the money.
２．人が中に入る事を許す。
The government should admit more immigrants.
ポイント２:
「試合、マッチに勝つ」は [ win a game (match) ] 。
「人、チームに勝つ」は [ beat a person (team)] 。
My girl friend always beats me at tennis.
Our team played well, but the other team beat us.
ポイント３:
「育てる」は [ bring up ] , 「育つ」は [ grow up ] 。
My grandmother brought me up.
I grew up in the north of England.
ポイント４:
職業や色、場所、などがその人に「似合う」と言うときは、[ fit ] ではなく、
[ suit ] を使います。
I think this job suits me.
Pink doen't suit me.
[ fit ] は「サイズや形が合う」という時に使う言葉です。
These shoes fit perfectly.
This coat fits me perfectly, but I don't think it suits me.
